Review Benelli TRK 702 X (2026)

70 hp, 20-Liter Tank, Heated Grips—and the Honest Truth About the Suspension

The Benelli TRK 702 X offers one of the strongest value-for-money packages in the middleweight adventure segment—with one important caveat. 70 hp, 70 Nm, 19-inch spoked wheels, Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tires, 140 mm / 173 mm of suspension travel, a 20-liter fuel tank, and a 5-inch TFT display. New for 2026: heated grips and a heated seat as standard, a new passenger seat, a wider windscreen, crash bars, and a luggage rack. Price: €8,699. The caveat: under hard braking over bumps, the 50 mm USD fork can bottom out.

As of: July 17, 2026 | Model: Benelli TRK 702 X (2026; 698 cc parallel twin; adventure enduro; full motorcycle license; 35 kW version available) | Manufacturer: Benelli Q.J. S.r.l. (Pesaro, Italy; Qianjiang Group, China) | Price in Germany: €8,699 | Stationary noise: 91 dB(A) (Tyrol-compliant) | Warranty: 2 years

70 hp. 70 Nm. 20-liter fuel tank. Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tires on 19-inch spoked wheels. Heated grips and a heated seat as standard. A 5-inch TFT with navigation. Crash bars, luggage rack, adjustable windscreen. €8,699.

Without question, the real headline here is the price, which should give the competition a reason to pay attention.

That is true—on paper. In the real world, however, there is one road-test finding buyers should know before signing the contract: under hard braking combined with bumps in the road, the 50 mm USD fork can reach the end of its travel. Motorradonline wrote in 2023: “It lacks both progression and a functioning bottom-out stop.” The fork is the weakest point. The test makes that perfectly clear.

The 2026 Update: What’s New

The 2026 upgrades include heated grips and a heated seat as standard—both new. There is also a new passenger seat with improved ergonomics and softer padding, a wider and taller windscreen, standard crash bars, and a new luggage rack.

The engine and suspension remain unchanged.

For a touring-oriented adventure motorcycle, this is a sensible comfort update. The features that matter on long days in the saddle now come standard. At the launch of the 2026 model, Benelli also included a free luggage set with a top case. Check with your dealer for current pricing and promotions.

70 hp / 70 Nm: The Torque Argument

698 cc. Parallel twin. Liquid-cooled. DOHC. 70 hp at 8,000 rpm. 70 Nm at 6,000 rpm. Assist-and-slipper clutch. 6-speed transmission. A 35 kW version is available.

This parallel twin delivers its torque low in the rev range and has enough muscle for confident overtaking on backroads. Motorradtest.de wrote: “The 70 hp parallel twin is fun and sounds very good to our ears.”

That is the TRK 702 X’s core promise: an engine with genuine torque character that remains relaxed and easy to live with on long tours.

Chassis: The Honest Assessment

A 50 mm USD fork up front. 140 mm of travel. No adjustment. A rear monoshock with 173 mm of travel and full adjustability.

That is one of the differences between the X and the standard TRK 702, which has 154 mm of rear travel and no compression adjustment. The X gets a longer, fully adjustable rear shock.

The fork is the same on both—and unfortunately, the fork is the problem.

Motorradonline wrote in its original 2023 test: “The fork bottoms out when braking hard over bumps. It lacks progression and a functioning bottom-out stop.”

This is not simply a cosmetic flaw. It is a suspension characteristic you can feel when riding aggressively and braking on poor pavement. If you primarily ride the TRK 702 X on good roads and gravel at moderate speeds, it is not a problem. If you ride aggressively and brake hard on rough surfaces, you will notice it.

Plan a test ride on a road with uneven pavement before buying.

19-Inch Front Wheel, Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR, 20-Liter Tank

19 inches up front. 17 inches at the rear. Spoked wheels. Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tires as standard. 110/80 R19 front, 150/70 R17 rear. This is the off-road-oriented setup that separates the TRK 702 X from the standard TRK 702, which uses 17-inch cast wheels and street tires. The Scorpion Rally STR is the right tire for gravel and dirt roads.

The fuel tank holds 20 liters. Consumption is 4.3 L/100 km. Range exceeds 430 km. Together with the Benelli TRK 502 X, that is a seriously generous fuel capacity.

5-Inch TFT, 91 dB(A), 2-Year Warranty

A 5-inch color TFT display. Bluetooth. App-based navigation. Quickshifter available as an option at extra cost. Dual-channel ABS, which cannot be switched off. A 2-year warranty. Stationary noise of 91 dB(A), making it Tyrol-compliant.

For the price, that is a solid electronics package.

860 mm and 235 kg: The Ergonomics Assessment

Seat height is 860 mm. Ready-to-ride weight is 235 kg, or 244 kg with the crash bars. Wheelbase is 1,505 mm.

The footpegs are positioned slightly too high and too far forward, creating a mildly crouched riding position. That is the second comfort compromise alongside the fork. Removing the rubber inserts from the footpegs improves the riding position.

You can feel the 235 kg in tight corners. On backroads and long straights, the motorcycle is stable. Again, a test ride is recommended—particularly for riders shorter than 1.75 meters.

€8,699: The Price in Context

€8,699.

For comparison: Yamaha Ténéré 700, €11,624 and 73 hp. Honda XL750 Transalp, €11,449 and 92 hp. Husqvarna Norden 901, €15,694 and 105 hp. For €8,699, the Benelli gives you 70 hp, 70 Nm, 19-inch spoked wheels, Pirelli STR tires, a 20-liter fuel tank, heated grips, heated seat, and TFT display.

The value argument is strong.

Verdict

The 2026 Benelli TRK 702 X is the strongest value-for-money package in the adventure segment below €9,000—with the fork caveat. 70 hp, 70 Nm, Pirelli STR tires, 20-liter fuel tank, heated grips, heated seat, TFT display, 2-year warranty. The fork is not adjustable and can bottom out under braking over bumps.

€8,699. A test ride is mandatory.
