2026 BMW R 12 G/S

The new R 12 G/S positions itself between scrambler styling and real adventure capability. The 1,170 cc boxer engine delivers strong midrange torque, and the shaft drive fits its long-distance character. On the road, it feels surprisingly neutral: it turns in willingly despite the 21-inch front wheel, remains stable under heavy braking, and provides a composed ride.

Compared to the Triumph Scrambler 1200 XE or Yamaha Ténéré 700, the BMW focuses on boxer character and shaft drive but feels less agile. Compared to the Ducati DesertX, it lacks range and wind protection but compensates with strong torque and premium build quality.

The R 12 G/S is ideal for experienced riders who value off-road ergonomics but are riding primarily on pavement.
