The S 1000 R is BMW’s pragmatic performance naked: 170 hp from the 999 cc inline-four, a firm chassis, but without the uncompromising race focus of higher-end models. Compared to the Ducati Streetfighter V2/V4, KTM 1390 Super Duke R, or MV Agusta Brutale 1000, the BMW appears less aggressive but excels with a broad powerband and refined electronics.

Compared to the M 1000 R, the difference lies in focus: the M offers more power, more track-oriented components, and aerodynamic elements, while the S remains more accessible, more comfortable, and €6,660 cheaper.
