Review Husqvarna Norden 901 (2026)
105 hp, 19 Liters, Easy Shift Standard—the Adventure Tourer With a Swedish Soul
The Norden 901 is, alongside the Vitpilen, Husqvarna’s only twin-cylinder model—and the brand’s only adventure bike. 889 cc parallel twin, 105 hp, 100 Nm, Easy Shift standard, Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tires on tubeless 21/18-inch wire-spoke wheels, auxiliary lights standard, 19-liter fuel tank, variable 850/870 mm seat height. 91 dB(A), Tyrol-compliant. Technically derived from the KTM 890 Adventure, but visually distinct thanks to Kiska design with large, smooth surfaces. For riders who want the adventure-touring concept in Husqvarna white instead of KTM orange.
As of: July 17, 2026 | Model: Husqvarna Norden 901 (2026; 889 cc parallel twin; Adventure Touring; Category A license; also available as Expedition version) | Manufacturer: Husqvarna Motorcycles GmbH, Mattighofen, Austria; Pierer Mobility / Bajaj Auto | Price in Germany: €15,694 plus €495 in additional charges | Stationary noise: 91 dB(A), Tyrol-compliant | Warranty: 4 years, Husqvarna standard
For a long time after its integration into the KTM Group, Husqvarna no longer offered any twin-cylinder models. That changed in 2021 with the Norden 901—the first adventure bike Husqvarna had ever offered and, at the same time, the first Husqvarna with a parallel twin in decades. Its technical basis is the KTM 890 Adventure, but it has its own identity through Kiska design: large, smooth surfaces instead of KTM’s angular, fragmented appearance.
The Norden 901 is technically unchanged for 2026. That means it benefits from two years of model-development experience: the first generation’s teething troubles have been addressed, the suspension is well sorted, and the electronics are proven. What remains is the concept that was convincing from the start. Also included is Easy Shift—standard, bidirectional, with no extra charge. That is not a given in this class.
The Parallel Twin: 105 hp and 100 Nm in a Travel-Friendly Package
889 cc. Parallel twin. Liquid-cooled. 105 hp. 100 Nm. Six-speed transmission. Easy Shift standard, bidirectional, no extra charge. The engine is identical to the unit in the KTM 890 Adventure, but calibrated for touring character: torque is available early in the rev range, throttle response is smooth, and the two-cylinder sound is authentic. Husqvarna describes it as a “smooth, torquey parallel-twin engine.” That is the right description, designed not for sprinting, but for endurance.
Official fuel consumption is 4.5 L/100 km. Fuel capacity is 19 liters. Range is more than 400 km. That is the adventure-bike profile riders want when they do not want to stop for fuel after 280 km. The tank sits low—down to crankshaft height—and therefore creates a low center of gravity that benefits handling both off-road and on winding roads.
WP XPLOR Suspension, 240 mm, Tubeless Wire-Spoke Wheels
Up front is a WP XPLOR fork with 240 mm of travel and adjustable settings. At the rear is a WP XPLOR monoshock, also with 240 mm of travel and adjustable. This is the suspension Husqvarna calls “off-road specific”—not a comfort-oriented touring setup, but suspension designed to provide feedback. The steel trellis frame uses calculated torsional flex, a chassis concept Husqvarna also employs on its 701 models.
Tubeless wire-spoke wheels measure 21 inches front and 18 inches rear. Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tires come standard. This is a mixed-use tire that works well on pavement and makes a difference on gravel. The tubeless system means a puncture does not necessarily result in immediate total pressure loss. On TET sections or gravel roads, that is not a minor detail but a safety-relevant advantage. It is also easier to repair. Fifteen minutes later, you can be rolling again without removing the wheel.
Variable 850/870 mm Seat Height: Two Positions, One Decision
The seat can be mounted in two positions: 850 mm low and 870 mm high. For riders around 1.75 meters tall, that can make the difference between comfortably putting a foot on the ground and balancing on tiptoes. User reviews on Motorradundreisen describe the ergonomics as particularly strong for long-distance riding.
Easy Shift Standard: The Underrated Feature
Easy Shift—Husqvarna’s name for its bidirectional quickshifter—comes standard. That is not a given on a motorcycle in this price class. On the Husqvarna 701 Enduro and 701 Supermoto, the quickshifter is an extra-cost option. On the Norden 901, it is included. On long trips alternating between pavement, gravel, and mountain passes, that makes a noticeable difference: no clutching on corner entry and no interruption in power when accelerating out.
Norden 901 vs. Expedition: Choosing the Right Version
The standard Norden 901 tested here is the base motorcycle for riders who want to configure it themselves. The Norden 901 Expedition, at approximately €17,500, is the fully-equipped version, with aluminum cases, engine protection, and windshield as standard. The concept is familiar from the Harley-Davidson Pan America Limited: base motorcycle or factory-equipped touring package. The Expedition costs approximately €1,800 more. If you need luggage immediately, choose the Expedition. If you want to configure the bike yourself, choose the standard model.
91 dB(A) and Approximately €16,000
At 91 dB(A), the Norden 901 is Tyrol-compliant. €15,694 plus €495 in additional charges equals a total price of approximately €16,200. For comparison, the KTM 890 Adventure, its technical basis, is similarly priced. The Yamaha Ténéré 700 World Raid costs approximately €13,700 including additional charges. The Norden offers more standard equipment than the Yamaha T7—Easy Shift, Pirelli STR tires, auxiliary lights, and tubeless wire-spoke wheels—and wraps it in Husqvarna design instead of KTM orange.
Verdict
The Husqvarna Norden 901 is the adventure tourer for riders who want the 889 cc parallel twin in a different package from the KTM 890 Adventure: Husqvarna design, Easy Shift standard, Pirelli STR tires standard, tubeless wire-spoke wheels, a 19-liter fuel tank, and 91 dB(A). 105 hp. 100 Nm. Variable 850/870 mm seat height. Approximately €16,200 including additional charges. User verdict: “An excellent choice for all long-distance riders.” That is the verdict that matters.
Quick Check

– Technically unchanged for 2026: no update like the 701 models; no power increase, no new features.
– 204 kg dry: heavier than Yamaha T7 at 200 kg and KTM 390 Adventure R at 165 kg; lighter than BMW GS.
