Review Indian Scout Sixty Classic (2026)
999 cc, 85 hp, 654 mm, A2-Compatible—the Most Classic Entry Into the Scout Family
The Scout Sixty Classic is not simply a stripped-down Scout. It is the Scout for riders who see a 654 mm seat height, A2 eligibility, and classic styling with a chrome exhaust as the right combination. 999 cc, 85 hp, five-speed transmission, sweeping fenders. The Sixty Classic is a concept that stands in its own right.

Sixty Classic vs. Scout Classic 1250: Understanding the Right Choice
The Scout Sixty Classic and the 1,250 cc Scout Classic are two different motorcycles that share the same name, which makes a clear distinction worthwhile. The Sixty Classic has 999 cc, 85 hp, 87 Nm, and a five-speed transmission. The Scout Classic has 1,250 cc, 105 hp, 111 Nm, and a six-speed transmission. The Sixty Classic has a 654 mm seat height, 26 mm lower than the Scout Classic’s 680 mm, cast wheels, and a chrome exhaust. The Scout Classic uses 40-spoke wire wheels.
The Sixty Classic can be restricted for A2 use. That is its most important unique selling point for a specific market: riders with an A2 license, limited to 35 kW / 47 hp, who do not want to wait until they hold a full license. It also appeals to riders for whom a 654 mm seat height and 249 kg ready-to-ride weight are the right entry-level combination.
What’s New for 2026
The Scout Sixty Classic was introduced together with the entire Scout Sixty family for 2025. For 2026, there are new color options and standardized trim packages. Technically, the motorcycle is identical to the 2025 version.
Engine: SpeedPlus 999—85 hp, Five-Speed
999 cc, liquid-cooled, 60-degree V-twin, SpeedPlus 999, 85 hp, 87 Nm, five-speed transmission, belt final drive, Euro 5+, and restrictable to 35 kW / 47 hp for A2 use. The SpeedPlus 999 is a distinct engine version within the SpeedPlus family—not simply a restricted 1,250, but a separately developed 999 cc engine. It has five gears rather than six, something that is barely noticeable in everyday riding. The gear spacing is matched to the engine and its intended use. The liquid-cooled engine revs pleasantly and still sounds American. Fuel consumption is approximately 5.0 L/100 km; the 13.0-liter tank provides around 250 km of range.
Chassis and Brakes
Up front is a 41 mm telescopic fork with 120 mm of travel. At the rear are twin shocks with 76 mm of travel and adjustable spring preload. The chassis is identical to the other Sixty models—light in feel, direct, and well tuned for city riding and backroads. Braking comes from a 298 mm front disc with a two-piston caliper and a 298 mm rear disc with a single-piston caliper. ABS is standard. The braking setup is adequate for 249 kg and 85 hp.
Ergonomics: 654 mm, Classic, Neutral
Seat height is 654 mm—26 mm lower than the 1,250 cc Scout Classic’s 680 mm. That is a noticeable difference, especially for riders under approximately 1.65 meters who may only reach the ground with their toes on the Scout Classic. At that rider height, the Sixty Classic allows both feet to make full contact with the ground. Mid-mounted footpegs, an upright neutral seating position, and the classic wide Scout handlebar complete the ergonomics. The 16-inch cast wheels front and rear give the motorcycle a more grounded, substantial appearance than the Scout Classic’s 19-inch front wheel.
Indian offers 32 different ergonomic configurations through its accessory program, including handlebars, seats, and foot controls, making the Sixty Classic one of the most adaptable motorcycles in the segment. That is particularly relevant for riders trying to find the right compromise between seat height, reach to the bars, and footpeg position.
Design: Chrome Exhaust, Sweeping Fenders
The Scout Sixty Classic has the most traditional appearance in the 2026 Scout family: sweeping, full-length fenders rather than chopped bobber fenders, a chrome exhaust instead of the Bobber’s black system, and 16-inch cast wheels. The chrome exhaust is a deliberate distinction from the Scout Bobber and Scout Sixty Bobber. The Classic is the more traditional, more nostalgic model.
Equipment Packages: Standard and Limited
The Scout Sixty Classic is offered in two trims, unlike the 1,250 cc Scout Classic, which is also available in Limited+Tech form with the RIDE COMMAND touchscreen. Standard includes ABS, LED lighting, and a basic analog instrument. Limited adds traction control, cruise control, three riding modes, USB, and an exclusive 999 cc badge on the engine and frame. The 4-inch RIDE COMMAND touchscreen is available for the Sixty Classic as an optional accessory but is not included in a factory trim package. If you want the display, you buy it as a retrofit option.
Price and Positioning
Prices start at €13,690 in current dealer offers, with a two-year warranty. That makes it the least expensive entry into the Indian Scout family with classic styling. The Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 starts at approximately €7,900, with 650 cc and 48 hp—less expensive and smaller. The Triumph Speed Twin 900 starts at around €10,200, with 900 cc and 65 hp, but follows a different concept. The Harley-Davidson Street Bob costs €16,600, uses the Milwaukee-Eight 117 with 163 Nm at 2,500 rpm, costs more, has a different engine character, and comes with a four-year warranty.
Verdict
The 2026 Indian Scout Sixty Classic is the right motorcycle for three specific groups: A2 riders who want an American cruiser; riders for whom a 654 mm seat height is decisive for ground-reach; and riders who prefer the classic Scout look with chrome and sweeping fenders to the more modern profile of the 1,250 cc family. For everyone else, the 1,250 cc Scout Classic is the more powerful and technologically richer alternative.
Quick Check
+ A2 restriction available: suitable for A2 license holders at 35 kW / 47 hp; 654 mm seat height, the lowest entry point in the Scout family; 249 kg ready to ride; easy mounting and dismounting; classic Scout styling with chrome exhaust and sweeping fenders.
+ + SpeedPlus 999: 85 hp; 87 Nm; liquid-cooled; five-speed; 13.0-liter tank; approx. 250 km range; 32 ergonomic configurations through accessories; Limited trim adds TC, cruise control, and three riding modes; 2-year warranty.
+ Least expensive entry into the Scout family with classic American-cruiser styling; 16-inch cast wheels front and rear; RIDE COMMAND touchscreen available as a retrofit accessory; compatible with more than 100 accessories.
+ Lowest center of gravity in the Scout family thanks to the lower seat height and more compact proportions; Pirelli Night Dragon tires standard; chrome exhaust and sweeping fenders—the most traditional look in the Scout lineup.
– 85 hp and 87 Nm: less performance than the Scout Classic at 105 hp / 111 Nm; five-speed instead of six-speed; no Limited+Tech factory trim—RIDE COMMAND is a paid accessory only.
– Only a 2-year warranty; the Harley-Davidson Street Bob at €16,600 with a 4-year warranty is an alternative at this price level.
– Cast wheels rather than the 1,250 cc Scout Classic’s wire-spoke wheels; stationary noise not officially published—confirm with importer; Indian’s German dealer network is smaller than Harley-Davidson’s.
– Scout Classic 1250: for €2,000 more you get 20 hp more, 24 Nm more, six rather than five gears, wire-spoke wheels, and the Limited+Tech trim with RIDE COMMAND available from the factory. If A2 eligibility and the 654 mm seat height are not decisive, the 1,250 deserves serious consideration.
