2026 KTM 390 Adventure R

The new 390 Adventure R is less a “small travel enduro” and more a true dirt tool with a license plate: tall, slim, and designed to carry real speed on gravel. The revised 398.7 cc single-cylinder responds instantly to throttle input, pulls strong, and remains highly controllable thanks to ride-by-wire. With 230 mm of suspension travel front and rear, a 21-inch front wheel, and plenty of ground clearance, it turns in easily, tracks confidently through ruts, and feels significantly more capable off-road than typical A2 adventure bikes.

Direct competitors include the Honda CRF 300 L, KTM 390 Enduro R, and Rieju Aventura Rally 307. The Honda is more forgiving and accessible for all rider types but less extreme. The 390 Enduro R is even more purist but offers a less travel-oriented setup. The Rieju is more composed over distance but still relatively unknown.

Within the KTM lineup, the Adventure R clearly sits above the Adventure X: more off-road hardware, more adjustability, and more rally DNA.
