Review Moto Morini Calibro 650 Bagger (2026)
Batwing, 38 Liters of Standard Luggage and a 693 cc Belt-Drive Twin for EUR 8,620
The Calibro Bagger is the touring version of the Calibro family—mechanically identical to the Cruiser, but fitted with a Batwing fairing and two standard 19-liter hard cases. If you were going to buy luggage anyway, the Bagger is the better deal. For EUR 921 more than the Cruiser, it adds a complete touring package with 38 liters of luggage capacity and wind protection from the Batwing fairing. Engine, chassis, brakes, and ergonomics are identical to the Calibro Cruiser. The only technical change is the rear tire size, 180/65-16 instead of 180/70-16. Quartz Black is the only color. German price: EUR 8,620 including ancillary charges.

What Separates the Bagger From the Cruiser
The Calibro Bagger shares its engine, frame, suspension, brakes, and ergonomics completely with the Calibro Cruiser. What changes is the bodywork. The most obvious addition is the Batwing fairing. Tall and broad, with an integrated windshield, it gives the motorcycle the touring character of an American highway cruiser. According to the manufacturer, the wind protection is sufficient for high-speed riding without negative effects on stability.
The Bagger also gets two hard cases with 19 liters of capacity each, providing 38 liters in total—enough for a weekend trip for two or a multi-day solo journey. The cases are fitted as standard and carry no additional accessory charge.
The only technical change is the rear tire, which measures 180/65-16 rather than the Cruiser’s 180/70-16. The difference is marginal, with a slightly lower profile, and has no meaningful effect on road behavior. Color choice is also reduced to a single option: Quartz Black. Riders who want Fire Red or Shark Grey have to buy the Cruiser.
The Buying Equation: When the Bagger Is the Better Deal
The Bagger costs EUR 8,620 versus EUR 7,699 for the Cruiser, a difference of EUR 921. That premium includes two 19-liter hard cases and the Batwing fairing with integrated wind protection.
Adding a comparable luggage system to the Cruiser after purchase would typically cost EUR 400–800 or more for a quality pair of side cases, before model-specific mounting hardware and without the Batwing fairing. For touring-oriented buyers, the Bagger is therefore the more rational economic choice. Riders who use the Calibro mainly around town or for short trips and do not need luggage are better served by the cheaper Cruiser.
Engine and Riding Impression: What Carries Over From the Cruiser
This is a friendly motorcycle with nothing extreme about it. The engine runs smoothly thanks to the belt drive, the chassis remains manageable despite the weight, and the turning circle is tight. All of that carries over unchanged to the Bagger. The 693 cc Kawasaki-license parallel twin produces 69 hp and 68 Nm and drives the rear wheel through a belt, exactly as it does in the Cruiser.
The limitations are also identical. Vibration becomes noticeable above 4,500 rpm, while the engine feels best between 3,000 and 4,000 rpm. If all 69 hp are exploited at high rpm, the powertrain feels too sporty for traditional cruiser character. The Bagger adds another consideration: dry weight is around 200 kg, and with luggage, passenger, and cargo, total running mass can quickly climb to 280–300 kg. The short 120/100 mm suspension travel becomes more noticeable under full load than on an unladen Cruiser.
Ergonomics and Wind Protection
The Bagger’s ergonomics are designed for longer distances: a broad, medium-height handlebar, moderately forward-set footpegs that can be moved roughly 15 cm rearward, and a seat height of just 725 mm. The Batwing fairing removes much of the wind pressure from the rider. As a result, highway riding is more relaxed than on the naked Cruiser.
Passenger accommodation is well considered. The Bagger has a broad passenger seat, grab handles, and the hard cases provide a degree of natural rear support. A sissy bar is available as an optional accessory.
Verdict
The Calibro Bagger is for riders who want the Calibro’s cruiser character with genuine touring capabilities. Its standard hard cases make it the most travel-ready model in the Calibro family, with no retrofit effort, no mounting complications, and no accessory-price surprises. The additional weight of the Batwing and luggage is real. Riders who travel solo and without baggage should buy the cheaper Cruiser. Riders who actually tour get the better deal with the Bagger.
