2026 Yamaha MT-09

The MT-09 remains Yamaha’s perfect balance between everyday usability and aggressive riding. The proven 890 cc CP3 delivers 119 hp and 93 Nm, responds instantly to throttle input, and pushes so strongly from the midrange that overtaking rarely requires shifting. On the road, the Yamaha impresses with light turn-in, strong stability under hard braking, and a riding feel that rewards quick direction changes rather than punishing them.

Compared to the Triumph Street Triple 765 and KTM 990 Duke, the MT-09 stands out technically with its strong torque delivery and comprehensive electronics package, though it is slightly less razor-sharp in ultimate precision. Against the Kawasaki Z900 or Ducati Monster, it offers a smoother-running, more characterful triple and stronger top-end punch, while the Z900 counters with a simpler and often more affordable package.

Compared to the MT-09 SP, the difference lies clearly in hardware: the SP adds higher-end suspension and braking components and targets more aggressive riding, while the base model remains the more rational, €2,000 cheaper choice.
