2026 Yamaha MT-09 SP

The MT-09 SP is the technically upgraded version of the CP3 concept. The 890 cc triple delivers 119 hp and 93 Nm, combining strong midrange punch with eager high-rev performance. On the road, the Yamaha feels extremely agile: light turn-in, stable braking behavior, and an engine character that pushes strongly from midrange rpms. The high-quality SP suspension with Öhlins rear shock and tuned KYB fork significantly expands the range between comfort and sporty precision.

Compared to the Triumph Street Triple 765 RS or KTM 990 Duke R, the Yamaha stands out with its torque-rich triple and very comprehensive electronics package with IMU-based rider aids. The rivals feel slightly sharper in the last percentage of precision or power, but cost a similar amount.

The difference to the base MT-09 lies mainly in the chassis and hardware: the SP adds Öhlins suspension, higher-spec front brakes, dedicated tuning, and exclusive equipment, while the standard MT-09 remains the €2,000 cheaper, slightly more comfort-oriented option.
