2026 Yamaha R9

The R9 brings Yamaha’s CP3 concept into the supersport category. The 890 cc inline triple responds directly to throttle input, delivers strong midrange torque early, and pulls cleanly across a wide rev range—less “600 cc rev frenzy,” more usable drive. This makes it feel equally at home on backroads and trackdays, as less shifting is required while maintaining strong performance.

In direct comparison, it competes with a new generation of supersport bikes such as the KTM 990 RC R, Ducati Panigale V2, and Aprilia RS 660. The KTM is the more uncompromising track tool, the Ducati offers the most emotional high-performance package, and the Aprilia is the lightest all-round option.

The Yamaha R9 positions itself between them—with very balanced racing precision, strong midrange, and high control under braking.
