Review Benelli TRK 502 X
48 hp, 19-Inch Front, 895 mm—the Entry-Level Adventure Bike
The Benelli TRK 502 X is the adventure version of the TRK 502: a 19-inch spoked front wheel instead of a 17-inch cast wheel, an 895 mm seat height instead of 840 mm, off-road tires instead of street tires, a high-mounted side exhaust, and a centerstand as standard. A 500 cc parallel twin delivers 48 hp and 46 Nm, with a ready-to-ride weight of 235 kg and Bosch dual-channel ABS. There are no electronics beyond ABS. MSRP is €6,599 including destination charges. It is aimed at beginners who want full-size adventure-bike presence without the weight and complexity of an 800.
As of: July 17, 2026 | Model: Benelli TRK 502 X (currently available, most recently documented as MY2024; 500 cc parallel twin; adventure enduro; A2; Euro 5) | Manufacturer: Benelli Q.J. S.r.l. In 2019, after its first test of the TRK 502 X, motorradonline.de wrote a sentence that describes this motorcycle better than any spec sheet: “The GS BMW never built.” Completely focused on beginners, yet with the presence of a full-size motorcycle. That is the essence of the TRK 502 X.
A BMW GS Adventure costs several times as much, weighs more, and offers far more electronics. The TRK 502 X costs €6,599, produces 48 hp, has an 895 mm seat height, 19-inch spoked wheels, and Bosch ABS. No traction control, no TFT, no riding modes. Just what an adventure enduro needs.
There is no model-year 2026 upgrade for the TRK 502 X—the model has remained largely unchanged since its Euro 5 update in 2021. What has not changed is the value argument. €6,599 for a motorcycle with a 19-inch spoked front wheel and genuine adventure-bike proportions remains an affordable proposition in 2026.
48 hp From the 500 cc Parallel Twin: What That Means
499 cc. Parallel twin. Liquid-cooled. 48 hp at 8,500 rpm. 46 Nm at 6,000 rpm. 6-speed transmission.
It is the same engine used in the standard TRK 502. There are no electronic rider aids beyond Bosch dual-channel ABS. Throttle response is straightforward, and the engine runs smoothly and predictably. For beginners moving up from smaller motorcycles, this is a trustworthy, manageable powerplant. Nothing surprises you. Nothing overwhelms you.
Top speed is approximately 165 km/h. That makes it highway-capable, but this is no sportbike. On backroads and gravel roads, the power is more than adequate. Fuel consumption is 4.1 L/100 km. The tank holds 20 liters. Range is approximately 480 km. That is one of the largest fuel tanks and one of the longest ranges in this entire test series.
19-Inch Front Wheel, 895 mm, Centerstand: The X Features
The X in the name means adventure version. The differences from the standard TRK 502 are fundamental.
A 19-inch spoked front wheel instead of the standard model’s 17-inch cast wheel. An 895 mm seat height instead of 840 mm. Off-road tires instead of street tires. A high-mounted side exhaust instead of an under-engine exhaust. A centerstand comes included, while the standard 502 model does not offer one. Axial floating front calipers instead of the standard model’s radially mounted fixed calipers.
These are real differences, not cosmetic ones.
The TRK 502 X plays the role of the adventure tourer that is not afraid of gravel and similar terrain. The GS corresponds to the TRK 502; the GS Adventure corresponds to the TRK 502 X. And the TRK 502 X costs less than one-quarter as much as a BMW R 1300 GS Adventure.
235 kg and the Honest Assessment
235 kg ready to ride. That is heavy for a 48 hp motorcycle. For comparison: KTM 390 Adventure R, 176 kg; Royal Enfield Bear 650, 216 kg.
The TRK 502 X is not a lightweight motorcycle. Motorradonline described “limited agility in tight, slow corners, where the X has to pay the price for its weight.” That is the compromise you accept in return for the GS Adventure appearance and 19-inch proportions.
On the highway and on backroads, it is stable and comfortable. In tight switchbacks, it feels cumbersome. Buyers should know that before making a decision.
The seat height is 895 mm. That is tall. For riders under 1.78 meters, a test ride is mandatory.
The factory-fitted centerstand is useful here: it allows the motorcycle to be parked securely without assistance. That partly compensates for the inconvenience of the high seat when maneuvering.
No TFT, No Riding Modes, No Quickshifter: The Honest Electronics Package
Bosch dual-channel ABS. That is it.
No TFT, no Bluetooth, no traction control, no riding modes, no quickshifter. There is almost nothing to operate or configure.
For the target audience, that is not necessarily a disadvantage. Beginners with little experience of electronic rider aids do not need to configure anything on the TRK 502 X. The ABS works quietly in the background. Everything else is simply throttle, brake, clutch, and shifting. This is motorcycling in its simplest, most honest form.
If you want TFT instrumentation, navigation, and riding modes, the KTM 390 Adventure R at €6,999 or the Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 at €6,299 are better equipped, but they are also lighter and smaller. The TRK 502 X delivers more authentic full-size adventure-bike proportions for similar money.
€6,599 Including Destination: The Price Argument
€6,599 MSRP including destination charges.
That is less expensive than the KTM 390 Adventure R at €6,999 including destination, less expensive than the Honda XL750 Transalp at €11,449, and less expensive than the Yamaha Ténéré 700 at €11,624.
For €6,599, you get a 19-inch spoked front wheel, 895 mm seat height, high-mounted exhaust, centerstand, 20-liter fuel tank, 48 hp, Bosch ABS, and approximately 480 km of range.
That is the buying argument.
No electronics beyond ABS: that is the price you pay for it.
Verdict
The Benelli TRK 502 X is the adventure motorcycle for riders who want the GS Adventure look without paying GS Adventure money.
48 hp, 235 kg, 895 mm, 19-inch spoked wheels, 20-liter fuel tank, Bosch ABS, centerstand. €6,599 MSRP including destination.
Motorradonline called it “The GS BMW never built.” That sums it up.
There is one qualification: 235 kg is noticeable, and there are no electronic rider aids beyond ABS. A test ride before buying is recommended.
