Review Harley-Davidson Road Glide (2026)

Milwaukee-Eight 117, Frame-Mounted Sharknose, 175 Nm, 200-Watt Audio, CFD-Optimized

The 2026 Road Glide returns lighter: revised Sharknose fairing developed using Computational Fluid Dynamics, Milwaukee-Eight 117, 175 Nm, 200-watt audio, and 12.3-inch Skyline OS with Apple CarPlay. The frame-mounted fairing is its most distinctive feature compared with the Street Glide—and the biggest difference in riding character.

As of: May 1, 2026 | Model: Harley-Davidson Road Glide (FLTRX; 2026; revised Sharknose fairing; new colors; new Skyline OS display; lighter than previous year) | Manufacturer: Harley-Davidson Motor Company, Milwaukee, WI, USA | Price in Germany: from €32,600 plus €650 transportation; 4-year warranty included | Stationary noise: not officially published; confirm with dealer against Tyrol’s 95 dB(A) limit | Warranty: 4 years, 2-year manufacturer warranty + 2-year dealer extended warranty

Road Glide vs. Street Glide: The One Decisive Difference

The Road Glide and Street Glide share their engine, suspension, electronics, luggage capacity, and price class. What separates them is the fairing.

The Street Glide has a fork-mounted Batwing fairing—it turns with the handlebar. The Road Glide has a frame-mounted Sharknose fairing—it remains stationary when the handlebar is turned. That is not merely a styling difference, it changes the motorcycle’s riding character.

Frame-mounted means that when you turn the handlebar through corners or maneuver at low speed, only the fork and front wheel move—not the fairing. This reduces steering effort in very tight situations and provides a more stable feeling at high speeds because wind loads acting on the fairing are not transferred to the fork.

At 130 km/h on the highway, the Road Glide feels more composed than the Street Glide. If you regularly cover long distances at higher cruising speeds, the Road Glide is the more relaxed motorcycle.

What’s New for 2026

The 2026 Road Glide is lighter than the previous model thanks to new cast-alloy wheels, revised bodywork, and new components.

The Sharknose fairing has been redesigned using Computational Fluid Dynamics, CFD, for improved aerodynamic efficiency and reduced helmet turbulence. A new 12.3-inch Skyline OS display with Apple CarPlay and OTA updates replaces the previous 6.5-inch Boom! Box system.

New colors for 2026 include Blood Orange, Purple Abyss, Aurora Blue Denim, Olive Steel with Vivid Black, and Teal Thunder with Vivid Black, plus Vivid Black and Dark Billiard Gray as standard colors.

Engine: Milwaukee-Eight 117 Classic—175 Nm

1,923 cc, air-, oil-, and liquid-cooled cylinder heads, OHV, 109 hp / 80 kW at 5,020 rpm, 175 Nm at 3,500 rpm, six-speed transmission, belt drive, Euro 5+.

Unlike the Road Glide Limited, the Road Glide’s Milwaukee-Eight 117 Classic does not use Variable Valve Timing, VVT. In practice, that means a slightly narrower usable rev range and somewhat less smooth throttle response at very low engine speeds.

For riders who occasionally rev the engine higher and do not rely on staying in one gear, the difference is barely noticeable. For riders who spend most of their time between 2,000 and 3,000 rpm with a fully loaded motorcycle, the Limited’s VVT 117 is noticeably smoother.

Fuel consumption is approximately 5.7–6.1 L/100 km. The 22.7-liter fuel tank provides a range of around 370 km.

Suspension: SHOWA Emulsion Shocks, CFD Sharknose

Up front is a 49 mm Dual Bending Valve fork with approximately 117 mm of travel, non-adjustable. At the rear are SHOWA Dual Outboard Emulsion shocks with 76 mm of travel and tool-free spring-preload adjustment.

The combination of the frame-mounted Sharknose fairing and touring-oriented suspension produces an especially calm and stable ride on straight highway sections. The CFD-optimized Sharknose directs airflow around the rider and helmet more precisely than the previous model.

The handlebar can be adjusted through 27 degrees forward and backward, allowing the riding position to be tailored without requiring aftermarket components.

Braking comes from four-piston fixed calipers up front with dual 320 mm discs, Cornering ABS, Cornering TCS, C-DSCS, C-ELB, Hill Hold, and TPMS. The complete Rider Safety Enhancements package comes standard.

Ergonomics: 720 mm, Frame-Mounted Fairing, Adjustable Handlebar

Seat height is 720 mm, wheelbase 1,625 mm, and ready-to-ride weight 380 kg. There are floorboards, a touring handlebar adjustable through 27 degrees, and a one-piece seat.

The 720 mm seat height is 5 mm higher than the Street Glide’s 715 mm and significantly lower than the Road Glide Limited’s 740 mm. For riders between approximately 1.70 and 1.95 meters tall, the Road Glide offers a good ergonomic fit without modification.

The frame-mounted fairing provides a tangible ergonomic advantage. During slow U-turns and parking maneuvers, only the fork and front wheel move rather than the entire fairing. This noticeably reduces the physical effort required to turn the handlebar in tight parking spaces.

Skyline OS, Audio, and Equipment

A 12.3-inch Skyline OS touchscreen comes standard, along with wireless Apple CarPlay, OTA updates, GPS navigation, Bluetooth, and USB-C.

The standard audio system delivers 200 watts through a four-channel amplifier and speakers integrated into the Sharknose fairing. Lockable side cases also come standard. There is no top case—that arrives with the Road Glide Limited.

There are four riding modes: Road, Sport, Rain, and Custom.

The most important equipment differences compared with the Road Glide Limited are the lack of a top case, heated seat, heated grips, and VVT engine.

Road Glide vs. Road Glide Limited: The Buying Decision

The Road Glide starts at €32,600, while the Road Glide Limited starts at €35,600.

For approximately €3,000 more, the Limited adds the VVT engine, Grand Tour-Pak top case, heated seat, heated grips, heated-gear connections, and 5 kg less weight.

If you ride year-round or regularly travel two-up over long distances, the Limited deserves serious consideration. If you mainly ride day trips and can live without a heated seat and top case, buy the Road Glide and save approximately €3,000.

Verdict

The 2026 Harley-Davidson Road Glide is the motorcycle for riders who want the Sharknose design and the riding character of a frame-mounted fairing while being willing to do without a heated seat and top case.

Milwaukee-Eight 117, 175 Nm, 200-watt audio, Skyline OS, four-year warranty. From approximately €32,600.
