Road Glide Limited vs. Road Glide: Four Specific Differences

The Road Glide Limited and Road Glide share the fairing, frame, suspension, basic electronics package, and styling. What exactly does the Limited add?

First, the VVT 117 instead of the M8 117 Classic—Variable Valve Timing for smoother throttle response at low rpm and a broader torque band. Second, the new Grand Tour-Pak, a top case with integrated speakers, LED lighting, passenger backrest, and luggage rack. Third, heated seats for rider and passenger, individually adjustable. In addition, the Road Glide Limited is around 5 kg lighter than its predecessor, at approximately 417 kg for the new model, thanks in part to Streamliner Collection components and new wheels.

For riders who use the motorcycle primarily in summer and can live without a top case and heating, the standard Road Glide is the right choice. For riders who ride year-round, frequently take two-day trips, or cover longer distances two-up, the premium for the Limited is justified.

What’s New for 2026

The Road Glide Limited is an all-new 2026 model replacing the previous Road Glide Ultra, FLTRXU, as the full-dress tourer in the lineup.

It introduces the Milwaukee-Eight VVT 117, redesigned Grand Tour-Pak, completely revised aerodynamics for the Sharknose fairing using Computational Fluid Dynamics, CFD, new 10-spoke alloy wheels with 10 spokes at the hub and 20 at the rim, and a 12.3-inch Skyline OS display.

Additional equipment includes Streamliner Collection components such as engine guards and saddlebag guards, adjustable air deflectors, a heel shifter, and an adjustable brake lever.

Engine: Milwaukee-Eight VVT 117—175 Nm With Variable Valve Timing

1,923 cc, air-, oil-, and liquid-cooled cylinder heads, VVT Variable Valve Timing, 109 hp / 80 kW at 5,020 rpm, 175 Nm at 3,500 rpm, six-speed transmission, belt drive, Euro 5+.

The rated performance figures are identical to those of the standard Road Glide without VVT.

The noticeable difference is in actual riding. The VVT 117 provides smoother throttle response at very low engine speeds below 2,000 rpm, a broader usable torque band, and approximately 2–3 percent improved fuel efficiency.

That is particularly noticeable with a fully loaded motorcycle and a relaxed touring style that avoids frequent gear changes. Many riders describe the engine as convincing because of its smooth, consistent power delivery.

Fuel consumption is approximately 5.7–6.1 L/100 km. The 22.7-liter fuel tank provides a range of around 370 km.

Suspension: SHOWA, 31° Lean Angle, CFD Sharknose

Up front is a SHOWA fork with optimized damping characteristics. At the rear are SHOWA emulsion shocks with 76 mm of travel and hydraulically adjustable, tool-free spring preload.

The Road Glide Limited provides approximately 31 degrees of lean angle—surprisingly good for a 375 kg touring motorcycle.

Braking comes from four-piston fixed front calipers with dual 320 mm discs, Cornering ABS, Cornering TCS, C-DSCS, C-ELB, Hill Hold, and TPMS.

Ergonomics: 740 mm, Frame-Mounted Sharknose, Grand Tour-Pak

Seat height is 740 mm—20 mm higher than the standard Road Glide at 720 mm. That is the most noticeable ergonomic difference between the two models.

For riders under approximately 1.70 meters, the additional seat height can make it more difficult to place both feet securely on the ground. For everyone taller than that, it should not present a problem.

Equipment includes floorboards, a touring handlebar adjustable through 27 degrees, heel shifter, adjustable brake lever, highway pegs, and the frame-mounted CFD-optimized Sharknose fairing.

Heated seats for rider and passenger come standard and can be adjusted independently through switches integrated into the seat. Heated grips are standard as well, along with heated-gear connections beneath the seat.

Together with the side cases, the Grand Tour-Pak provides approximately 144 liters of total luggage capacity—enough for a helmet, jacket, clothing, and additional luggage for two people on a week-long trip.

Audio and Infotainment

The standard audio system delivers 200 watts through a four-channel amplifier and four 6.5-inch speakers—two in the Sharknose fairing and two in the Grand Tour-Pak.

There is a 12.3-inch Skyline OS touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay, OTA updates, GPS navigation, Bluetooth, USB-C, and four riding modes.

Price and Positioning

From €35,600 plus €650 transportation, with Silver or Black Finish and special colors available at extra cost and a four-year warranty included.

That is exactly the same price as the 2026 Street Glide Limited.

The choice between the Road Glide Limited and Street Glide Limited therefore comes down entirely to character: frame-mounted Sharknose on the Road Glide versus fork-mounted Batwing on the Street Glide.

The Indian Pursuit Dark Horse 112, at approximately €33,390, is the most direct competitor at a similar price, with a liquid-cooled PowerPlus 112 engine producing 181 Nm, a frame-mounted fairing, and a FOX shock.

Verdict

The 2026 Harley-Davidson Road Glide Limited is the most complete Sharknose touring model Harley-Davidson has ever offered as a production motorcycle.
