Review Honda NT 1100 (2026)

The Underrated Tourer—Africa Twin Technology, Saddlebags Included, From €15,519

For three years, the NT 1100 flew under the radar. Then MY2025 arrived and changed almost everything: more torque earlier in the rev range, a 6-axis IMU, Cornering ABS, new styling, Apple CarPlay standard—and optional SHOWA EERA electronic suspension. MY2026 carries the complete package forward: 102 hp, side cases, center stand, heated grips, cruise control, 20-liter fuel tank. From €15,519 including destination charges.

As of: April 10, 2026 | Tested model: Honda NT 1100 (2026, manual transmission) | Prices: NT 1100 €15,519 / NT 1100 DCT €16,639 / NT 1100 DCT Electronic Suspension €18,069, all including destination charges

Engine: 1,084 cc, 102 hp, 112 Nm at 5,500 rpm—Africa Twin-Based, Retuned for Touring

1,084 cc, liquid-cooled DOHC parallel twin, eight valves, 92 mm × 81.5 mm, 10.5:1 compression ratio, PGM-FI, Throttle-by-Wire. Output is 75 kW / 102 hp at 7,500 rpm, with 112 Nm at 5,500 rpm. The engine comes directly from the CRF 1100 L Africa Twin and has been calibrated for touring response rather than off-road dynamics.

The MY2025 update was the most significant since the NT 1100’s introduction: new intake ports, new pistons, and a new crankshaft. The result is 8 Nm more torque than before, with peak torque arriving 1,250 rpm earlier than on the predecessor, at 5,500 instead of 6,250 rpm. Anyone overtaking with a passenger and luggage will notice the difference.

There are three riding modes—Urban, Tour, and Rain—plus two individually configurable User modes, all linked through Throttle-by-Wire to the suspension and DCT. Three-level HSTC traction control now includes Wheelie Control, new for MY2025. A lithium-ion battery comes standard, a SKYRICH HJ13L introduced for MY2025 that is 2.5 kg lighter than its predecessor and improves mass centralization.

Self-canceling turn signals and an ESS Emergency Stop Signal taillight are standard. There is a six-speed transmission and an Assist and Slipper Clutch as standard. DCT is optional for an additional €1,120; Electronic Suspension is available only in combination with DCT.

6-Axis IMU & Cornering ABS: The Biggest MY2025 Leap—Now Equipped Like Motorcycles Costing Twice as Much

MY2025 brought a 6-axis IMU to the NT 1100 as the central element of its entire electronic control system. The IMU monitors lean angle, acceleration, yaw and roll movements, and changes in vehicle attitude in real time, using that data to control HSTC, Wheelie Control, and the new Cornering ABS. The IMU sends the current lean angle to the ABS, which individually adjusts brake pressure at the front and rear wheels—not only in a straight line, but also while cornering. Since MY2025, that has represented a significant increase in safety.

DCT shift behavior is also controlled more precisely using IMU data. The system recognizes when the motorcycle is cornering and adjusts shift timing more intuitively.

Cornering ABS and IMU-controlled traction control have effectively become minimum standards for a touring motorcycle in this price class, and the NT 1100 has met that standard since MY2025. Stationary noise is 92 dB(A)—comfortably below Tyrol’s 95 dB(A) riding-ban limit.

Suspension: 43 mm SHOWA USD, Cornering ABS, Optional Semi-Active SHOWA EERA—Three Versions Available

Up front is a 43 mm SHOWA upside-down fork with adjustable spring preload. At the rear is a Pro-Link shock with hydraulically adjustable spring preload. Braking comes from dual 310 mm floating front discs with radially mounted four-piston calipers and a 256 mm rear disc with a single-piston caliper. IMU-controlled Cornering ABS comes standard.

Wheel sizes are 17 inches front and rear, with a 120/70 ZR17 front tire and 180/55 ZR17 rear. The chassis uses a steel frame with an aluminum rear subframe. Seat height is 820 mm.

Optional is SHOWA EERA, Electronically Equipped Ride Adjustment, a semi-active electronic suspension system available exclusively in combination with DCT. The EERA system responds in real time to IMU and speed data. In Tour mode, damping is firm for high-speed riding. Urban mode provides a medium balance for comfort. Rain mode uses softer damping. Under braking, the system controls fork dive.

There are three equipment levels: NT 1100 manual at €15,519, NT 1100 DCT at €16,639, and NT 1100 DCT + EERA at €18,069. Electronic Suspension is available only in combination with DCT.

Equipment: Saddlebags, Center Stand, Heated Grips, Cruise Control, Apple CarPlay—All Standard

Standard equipment includes two side cases with 33 liters of capacity each. Since MY2025, the lids have been deeper to provide more interior space, and a full-face helmet fits inside. A center stand, heated grips, and cruise control are also included from the factory.

A 6.5-inch TFT LCD touchscreen with Apple CarPlay or Android Auto comes standard, along with Bluetooth connectivity, backlit handlebar switches, a USB charging port, 12-volt socket, 20-liter fuel tank, and dual LED headlights with “Hidden Eye” technology and integrated DRL daytime running lights, introduced for MY2025.

The windshield adjusts through five positions and can now be operated with one hand while seated. Also new since MY2025, the front fender is 150 mm longer for improved water deflection.

Accessories include a Quickshifter with Auto-Blipper and two equipment packages featuring a 50-liter top case with comfort backrest.

Handling: 250 kg, 102 hp, 820 mm—Touring-Capable, Manageable, Relaxing With DCT

Fully fueled weight is 250 kg including the side cases for the manual-transmission version. Seat height is 820 mm, moderate for a tourer and providing good ground contact for riders from approximately 1.75 meters tall. On the move, the NT 1100 feels lighter than its specifications suggest, helped by its low center of gravity and forgiving steering geometry. The engine delivers its torque early enough that overtaking remains effortless even when you are not in the perfect gear.

With DCT and cruise control on the highway, the NT 1100 is relaxing without becoming detached from the riding experience. On winding backroads, it provides more riding enjoyment than its touring concept might suggest. Cornering ABS inspires confidence, while the suspension remains neutral even at a brisk pace.

Direct comparison: the BMW R 1300 RT starts at €22,890 plus additional charges and is considerably more expensive, with its distinctive boxer character. The Yamaha Tracer 9 GT+ starts at €16,049, uses an 890 cc engine with 119 hp, and has a sportier orientation.

The NT 1100 positions itself as the least expensive fully equipped touring motorcycle on the market: side cases, center stand, heated grips, cruise control, Cornering ABS, and Apple CarPlay—from €15,519. That is the argument.

Costs: From €15,519 Including Destination Charges—Fully Equipped, No Package Surcharge

The NT 1100 with manual transmission costs €15,519. The NT 1100 DCT costs €16,639, an additional €1,120. The NT 1100 DCT Electronic Suspension costs €18,069, an additional €1,430 over the DCT version, with Electronic Suspension available only in combination with DCT.

That makes the NT 1100 the most complete offering in its segment below €16,000. Side cases, center stand, heated grips, cruise control, Cornering ABS, Apple CarPlay, and IMU are all included in the base version without an additional package surcharge.

The standard warranty is two years with unlimited mileage. A paid extension through Honda GarantiePlus is available. Stationary noise is 92 dB(A), so Tyrol’s motorcycle riding bans are not relevant.

Verdict

Since MY2025, the Honda NT 1100 has become a serious touring motorcycle: IMU, Cornering ABS, more torque available earlier, optional EERA electronic suspension—and all of it combined with side cases, center stand, heated grips, cruise control, and Apple CarPlay.

In the sub-€16,000 price class, there is no better alternative with a complete touring equipment package.

If you have overlooked it in the past, it deserves a second look.
