Indian does not officially publish a horsepower figure—an American cruiser tradition. Dealers quote 90 hp, which is consistent with the engine’s torque characteristics. If horsepower numbers are your priority, you are looking at the wrong motorcycle: torque is the language of this engine. Rear Cylinder Deactivation comes standard. At a standstill and in slow city traffic, the engine automatically switches to single-cylinder operation, reducing heat and fuel consumption.

662 mm Seat Height: It Does Not Get Much Lower

RIDE COMMAND: 4-Inch Touchscreen, Navigation, Three Riding Modes

The round 4-inch RIDE COMMAND touchscreen provides GPS navigation, Bluetooth smartphone pairing for music and phone calls, riding data including rpm, speed, fuel level, gear, and temperature, TPMS status, vehicle information, and riding-mode selection. There are three riding modes: Tour, Standard, and Sport. That is more electronics than many rivals in this cruiser class provide. Comparable Harley-Davidson models charge extra for TFT navigation. Stationary noise is 91 dB(A) according to EU type approval. That is 4 dB(A) below Tyrol’s 95 dB(A) limit, so the Tyrol riding ban does not apply. Four decibels may not sound like much, but on the logarithmic sound scale it represents a clearly different perceived level. The Chief Bobber Dark Horse sounds like a large American V-twin. For the target audience, that sound is a convincing argument to purchase.
